ODOMO PRIVACY POLICY

Red Horizon (the team behind Odomo) is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for users of the Odomo platform. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) is designed to help you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard the information you provide when using Odomo, and to assist you in making informed decisions about your data.

For purposes of this Policy:

  • “Site” refers to Odomo's web application, accessible at odomo.org.
  • “Service” refers to Odomo's features, including event discovery, real-time guest list updates, and user-generated photo/video sharing with incentive-based engagement tools.
  • “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Odomo team operating under the unincorporated collective Red Horizon.
  • “You” refers to any user of the Site or Service.

By accessing Odomo, you accept this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, and you consent to the collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information as described below.

I. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect “Non-Personal Information” and “Personal Information.”

  • Non-Personal Information includes information that cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, preferences you submit, and aggregated analytics (e.g., clicks, session duration).
  • Personal Information includes:
    • Data provided through third-party authentication services (e.g., Google Account), such as your name, email address, and profile picture.
    • Photos and videos uploaded by users during or after events.
    • Device model information (e.g., device type, operating system) to enable Progressive Web App (PWA) features, including push notifications and installation shortcuts.

Note: We may expand the scope of collected data in the future to improve service functionality. Any material changes will be communicated via updates to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information Collected via Technology

To activate the Service, you must authenticate through a third-party provider (e.g., Google). To use the Service thereafter, we track technical information provided by your browser or device, such as:

  • The referring URL (the website you came from)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Time and date of access
  • Aggregated usage patterns (e.g., pages visited, interactions with event content)

We use cookies (small text files stored on your device) to:

  • Maintain user sessions (e.g., persistent cookies for login continuity)
  • Track preferences (e.g., event notification settings)
  • Analyze service performance (e.g., session cookies for page load speeds)

Persistent cookies remain on your device until deleted; session cookies expire when you close your browser.

2. Information You Provide by Registering for an Account

To use Odomo, you must create a profile via a third-party authentication service (e.g., Google). By registering, you authorize us to collect, store, and use the Personal Information provided by your authentication provider (e.g., email, name) in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

3. Children's Privacy

Odomo is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data via Google Auth, contact us at [email protected].

Reporting Underage Use

If you believe a child under 13 has accessed Odomo using a Google Account:

  1. Submit a request to [email protected] with:
    • An email from the Google Account in question confirming ownership
    • Evidence of parental authority (e.g., a redacted government-issued ID showing your relationship to the child)
  2. We will:
    • Promptly investigate the claim
    • Delete the child's data only if the claim is substantiated

Important Notes:

  • We reserve the right to reject incomplete, fraudulent, or unverifiable claims
  • For disputes involving Google Accounts, we encourage parents/guardians to contact Google's Family Link team directly

II. HOW WE USE AND SHARE INFORMATION

Personal Information

Except as stated below, we do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Information to third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

How We Share Personal Information:

  • Event Hosts, Attendees, and Public Visibility: Photos, videos, and other content you upload to Odomo may be shared with:
    • The event host(s)
    • Other attendees of the event
    • The public, depending on event settings (e.g., public vs. private events)
  • License for Marketing: By uploading content, you grant Odomo a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your photos/videos for promotional purposes (e.g., social media, advertisements).
  • Service Providers: We share Personal Information with vendors who perform services for us, such as email delivery, cloud storage, and analytics tools. These parties are contractually prohibited from using your data for unrelated purposes.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose Personal Information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Odomo, its users, or the public.

How We Use Personal Information:

  • To communicate with you (e.g., respond to inquiries, provide technical support)
  • To send promotional offers (you may opt out at any time)
  • To facilitate event engagement and content sharing

Non-Personal Information

We use Non-Personal Information to improve the Service, analyze trends, and customize user experiences. This includes aggregated or anonymized data that cannot identify you.

Sharing Non-Personal Information:

  • We may share Non-Personal Information with partners, advertisers, or researchers.
  • Future Anonymized Data Use: While we do not currently sell anonymized data, we reserve the right to do so in the future. Any material changes to this practice will be disclosed in an updated Privacy Policy.

Business Transfers:

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Information may be transferred to a successor entity. You will be notified of such changes, and the successor will continue to honor this Privacy Policy.

  • Google Authentication: Your account is secured through Google's OAuth system. To safeguard access, ensure your Google Account uses strong security practices (e.g., two-factor authentication, regular password updates).

  • Infrastructure Safeguards: Firewalls, access controls, and regular security audits.

While we strive to protect your data, no system is 100% secure. By using Odomo, you acknowledge that no internet transmission is entirely risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

IV. YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING THE USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You have the right to:

  1. Manage push notifications:
    • Disable event-specific notifications via the event page
  2. Request Data Access or Deletion:
    • Submit a request via [email protected] to review or delete the user record associated with your Google account

Note: Administrative notifications (e.g., policy updates, security alerts) will still be sent regardless of preferences.

V. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Odomo may link to third-party websites (e.g., event sponsors). This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy practices before interacting with them.

VI. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to update this Policy. Significant changes will be notified in-app and/or via push notification to your device 7 days before taking effect.

Non-material changes (e.g., clarifications) take effect immediately. Check this page periodically for updates.
